Revelation in Brokenness

Oftentimes, when I think about beauty, and happy things, sunsets and stars come to mind. Those moments make me say, “Wow. Look at the wonder of God’s creation.”
As I’ve gotten older, my understanding of beauty has broadened. Now, the moments that feel the most beautiful have a certain depth to them.
Recently, seeing the brokenness in myself and those around me has made me say the same thing, “Wow. Look at the wonder of God’s creation.”
Not because it’s so good that we are broken, but because it reveals our need for God. Even here, even now, in our moments of weakness, God still chooses us.
I’ve felt this most clearly after an argument with someone I love, when I’m confronted with my own imperfections, and I’m met by the other person with love and forgiveness.
That’s beautiful to me.
